Village Sv. Filip i Jakov (Sveti Filip i Jakov) is a modest resort located 3 km northwest of Biograd na Moru, along the main road. The magistral runs through the center of the village. The village has 1,700 inhabitants who feed on wine and vegetable growing and more and more tourism. There are several islands nearby.
The resort is popular especially for its beautiful beaches, some of which are sandy. The town offers nice walks along the sea and a variety of excursions. Opposite Sv. Filip i Jakov lies the island of Pasman. The sea between Pasman and the mainland is called the Pasman Canal. In addition, there are several smaller islands in this narrow strip of land, which have a nice view from the mainland and can be used as a target for hiked boat trips. The Pašman Canal is also the venue of sailing races every year.
The resort is located over a kilometer long Iza Banja beach with a gradual entry into the sea. It is mostly pebble beach, but in the southern part of the resort there is a sandy beach. This sandy beach is especially suitable for families with small children. The beach is divided by wide concrete mills, and in some parts it is lined with pine trees, so it offers a pleasant shade. Iza Banja Beach was awarded the "Blue Flag" - a symbol of cleanliness.
Three thousand years ago there existed in the territory of today's town of Sv. Filip i Jakov, a small Liburnian settlement (the Liburns were an Illyrian tribe inhabiting Liburnia, ie the coastal area in today's Croatia between the Rasa and Krka rivers). Remains of the walls and graves from this time can be seen today in a museum, 3 km away from Biograd na Moru.
With the advent of Croats in the 7th century, the town of Sv. Filip i Jakov in importance, mainly due to the proximity of Biograd na Moru, the royal city. In the 12th century, a church dedicated to Saint Philip and Jokov was also built here, according to which the town was also named in the 15th century.
During the main summer season (ie July and August), there are various cultural and sporting events, festivals and festivals. For example, there are musical fishing evenings where excellent local specialties can be tasted.
