Povljana is a small town situated on the southern side of the island of Pag, an area that is part of the tract agricultural land that has been supplying the whole island of Pag for centuries. The change took place in the middle of the 20th century, when tourism began to develop in the village. Povljana has grown widely, especially in the last 5 years, when it has significantly changed its appearance. There were built a number of new houses on both coves near the sea and the former farm center today became a major tourist area of the island of Pag.
The municipality of Povljana belongs to the Zadar Region and most of the public services are provided in Zadar, which is only 38 km away. With the mainland, the island of Pag in the direction of the city of Zad is connected by a bridge and the passage is free.
From the coast of Povljana is a beautiful view of the open sea and long sandy and stony beaches with gradual entry into the sea are ideal for a quiet family holiday with small children. Visitors to Povljana will appreciate especially the beautiful Dubrovnik beach with cafés and restaurants.
The touristy resort of Povljana is divided into two parts. In the western part you will find a large pebble beach Mali Dubrovnik and another pebble beach. In the eastern part of the town of Povljana, near the Chapel of St. Nicholas, you will find beaches with very fine sand, ideal for small children.
